Power Trial Lawyers Essay Competition & $1,000 Scholarship
Power Trial Lawyers, is an appellate law and defense firm that represents clients who are wronged. The underlying principle of the firm is to correct and defend a wronged individual because everyone is entitled to due process of law.
To expand on this, Power Trial Lawyers, has an essay competition. The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to raise awareness why defense firms are vital to the practice of law and the administration of the due process of law.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be a USC law student and enrolled/taken any of the following classes:
- Criminal Law;
- Criminal Procedure; and/or
- Constitutional Law
- Student must be in good academic standing, verified by USC Law.
Essay Prompt
What does the due process clause mean to you? How does it apply to modern day legal issues?
How to Apply
- Write an original essay responding to the essay prompt above, no more than 1,000 words in length.
- Please use at least 5 different sites (Bluebook).
- Two of which must be secondary sources.
- Proof of Enrollment at USC Gould Law School.
- By October 31, 2020, submit the completed application form, essay, and proof of enrollment to matthew@barhomalaw.com, subject line “Scholarship Application.”

Scholarship Details
- One thousand dollars ($1,000) will be awarded to the winner of the essay competition and paid directly to the college or university on behalf of the winner.
- The essay responding to the prompt can be any length under 1,000 words.
- October 31, 2020 is the annual deadline. Essays received after October 31, 2020 will be evaluated for the following year’s competition.
